Digital photo printers are basically of two types: 4-color printers and 6-color printers. Today you can also find an 8-color printer. The number of color determines the quality of the printouts. The higher the number, the better the quality gets. If you use an 8-color digital photo printer, the quality of your printout would certainly the photo lab people in quandary.

When you review a printer, you should check whether the printer is capable of printing the size of the images you want or not. If it is not able to print that size, you would literally end up wasting a lot of paper and ink.

Before buying aprinter, don't get enticed by the resolutions, features and bells of the printer. Having these features doesn't mean that you would get the best quality printouts. Always check for the features which would solve your purpose of intended printing quality.

Now that you have bought a digital photo printer for yourself, you need to know how to print photographs from your digital camera. Well, if you directly want to print photographs from the camera, you need to verify that both the printer and the camera are PictBridge compliant. PictBridge basically allows the interfacing of a complaint camera and printer via a USB cable.

It is advisable that you download or buy some photo editing software, so that you can apply your creativity, before printing the photographs. Editing your photographs before printing also allows you to enhance the photographs by adjusting colors, brightness and sharpness of the pictures.
